+CRAYOLA WATERCOLORS TUTORIAL+ by mmmaoh +CRAYOLA WATERCOLORS TUTORIAL+ by mmmaoh
hello!!

Here's the "how to color manga-style with cheap CRAYOLA washable watercolors" tutorial you've been waiting for (??) :XD: I tried doing a tut. T__T Sorry if it's lousy though..... XD <--doesn't know what to do or how to do them

I only did it on the face and the hair.
I don't know if I should do any more tutorials since there may be plenty more out there. Tell me if you want to know some more. ^^;

(btw, it's a boy... ;P )

I hope it helps you somewhat! Thanks!!

:D

I acquired a Rose Art 8-color watercolor tray. Can your tutorial work for these paints too? And does it have to be watercolor paper, or can I use the Bristol pad that I use for comic and cartoon drawing?

I think it can work for that. I don't know how the colors are, but you'll just have to mix the colors to get what you want.
Yes, you need watercolor paper. Other papers will soak up the water and get soggy.

how do you do this?! I never can color with paint! maybe because my brush is crappy... what would you suggest?

good brushes are necessary for good painting. A good brush keeps it's point fine and thin no matter how big it is. They are usually quite expensive, so invest in good brushes at a high-quality craft store. :)

Im pretty new to watercolour and never tried using 'dry' watercolour usually i get mine from a tube in liquid form. so for these so you water a bit off on a pallet or anything? :O can you mix colours?
Also do you scan yours in? :D your pictures look so clear and you can see the texture of the paper. however when I scan mine in they look dirty and grubby and the colours (spesh the skin) doesnt come out. do you have any tips?
(hope I havent overwhelmed you! I r Noob)

I mix the colors right on the palette of colors. I don't care if it's messy; i just want the right color haha
When I scan my pictures, I scan in 300-350dpi and then i adjust on Photoshop to make the colors/texture in scanned version on the computer look as real as the one in real life.

:o AH OKI I scanned my latest picture at about 600dpi but I think it pics up a lot more dirt and less texture that what which is odd because you think it would come out better! anyway thank you for the advise :) really helps!

I began using watercolors in 2006 or 2007, but I don't use them as much anymore. ^^;
So.. it's been about 5-6 years but probably just 2 or 3 when I really add it all up lol

Thank you so incredibly much! I've been looking at watercolor tutorials trying to figure out how the heck I'm supposed to do this and everyone is using really fancy (expensive) watercolors, and I am so confused I just give up. I actually have these exact watercolors! :) Thanks a ton!

I just want to say that this is awesome and thank you for doing this. I always get so discouraged looking for tutorials because people use these expensive watercolors and watercoloring tools that I can't afford, so I think I can't be a good painter. But this shows the opposite and I find that so awesome. Thank you so much. :)

I believe art is about skill and not necessarily the tools. Once you develop the skill, you can work with anything and magic can happen! I'm glad I can help and encourage you~ :hug:

I'm surprised you can get such rich looking colors out of kids watercolors.

A lot of people think these Crayola watercolors are bad, and are for amateurs--but it's the skill people have in order to make a painting. Not the brand. I loved this tutorial, thank you! :)
